Rollup series for global events

PROJECT CONTEXT

In 2018, Business Finland needed a fresh set of portable rollup banners to represent country’s key innovation sectors at international and domestic events – trade fairs, expos and business missions. The existing rollups were outdated, visually inconsistent and no longer aligned with the agency’s renewed brand and messaging.

CHALLENGE

The challenge was to create a series of versatile rollups that could effectively showcase Finland’s strengths across industries, from health tech to maritime, while maintaining a strong, cohesive visual identity. The designs needed to be visually striking yet flexible enough to serve at fast-paces and high-visibility international events.

MY ROLE

  • I was responsible for the full design process, working as an in-house communications specialist at that time.
  • Developed the concepts, designed the visuals and prepared the final production files. 
  • Coordinated with the printing house to ensure delivery of a high-quality product.

APPROACH AND SOLUTION

I approached the project as both a graphic designer and a visual communicator:

  • Aligned content and visuals with Business Finland’s brand guidelines and storytelling goals.
  • Selected impactful imagery to represent each industry sector in a way that was both aspirational and accessible.
  • Developed a consistent layout system to unify the series, while allowing each rollup to highlight its unique message.
  • Ensured practical considerations such as readability from a distance, easy portability and long-term reusability.

RESULTS AND IMPACT

Designed roll-up banners have been widely used at international expos, trade fairs and business missions. The rollups were well-received by colleagues and quickly became a staple at Business Finland’s events.
